The polls are closed and the votes are in – and it’s Sydney who head into Sunday’s First Grade Limited-Overs Cup grand final against Randwick-Petersham as a clear favourite in the opinion of rival captains.

We asked the 18 McDonald’s Men’s Premier Cricket skippers not involved in the decider for their predictions and all bar one backed the Tigers in a close one at Drummoyne Oval.
Sydney last won the one-day crown in 2018/19, while Randwick-Petersham will be looking to go one better after going down to Sydney University in last year’s grand final.
Liam Robertson captained the Students that day and believes the Randy Petes have the odds stacked against them 12 months on.
“Sydney will be tough to beat. They bat deep and have plenty of options with the ball,” he said.
“Randwick have made two finals in a row and are a good white-ball side. They will need Jason Sangha to fire if they’re to win.”
Northern District skipper Ben Davis said: “They are both very strong white-ball teams with plenty of match-winners, but I’m going with Sydney at home.”
UNSW captain Brandon McLean gives Randwick-Petersham a real hope but backed Sydney when pushed for a tip.
“Randwick will take plenty of momentum from their semi-final win over Manly but you’re asking me for a prediction and I’d have to say Sydney,” he said.
North Sydney’s Tom Jagot is leaning the same way.
“I think Sydney will win. They have a very disciplined outfit with a large number of high quality players.”
Penrith’s Cam Weir added: “Sydney has been the dominant one-day team for a number of years. They have so much depth and experience and I think they will be too strong in a really good game of cricket.”
But a player who has been around for more than 400 games is the one dissenting voice.
Fairfield-Liverpool’s veteran captain Jarrad Burke smells an upset.
“I’ll go with Randwick. I think their bowlers will get them over the line,” he declared.
The match gets underway at 10am and will be LIVE on Kayo Sports and Match Centre.
